Following divergence of opinions and strategic vision between the 2 founders of IEforge, Companion.JS now lives there. This document exists for the record and to redirect CJS early adopters to its new home.

Companion.JS (pronounced Companion dot JS or CJS) is IEforge second Extension/Add-on for IE. We have decided to release it early (v 0.1) to get as much feedback as possible from users and put together the missing Javascript tool in every web developer's toolbox (no one can ignore an 80% market share). CJS has been designed to be used in conjunction with DebugBar, making it a perfect development companion.

In the top-left corner the notifying panel which pops-up when an error occurs in the current page if the Companion.JS panel is not open. At the bottom of the page...

Download the installer, guaranteed spyware/malware free and packaged with a straightforward and complete un-installer.

To be able to use Companion.JS you'll also need to install Microsoft Script Debugger. See Installing Companion.JS for details.

There are plenty of super sophisticated Javascript debuggers around, some integrating with IE better than others (Microsoft Script Debugger , Microsoft Visual Studio, ...). Companion.JS sits in between the alert-statement-Javascript-debugging and these more advanced tools.

In our experience 80% of the Javascript problems/bugs web developers are confronted to, fall into the trivial category and don't require pulling the big guns. Companion.JS v 0.1 is already a great tool to speed up the discovery and fixing of these lame mistakes we all tend to make.

With your feedback we he intends to turn it into a power tool to investigate and fix more advanced issues raised during the development of Javascript code and make it integrable into the work flow of web developers! We want to turn Companion.JS into a simple Javascript power tool for coders on a deadline.
